Promise Me You'll Listen
Words & Music by Mick Armitage and Steve Saville

This is another one of my 'early' songs - jointly written with Steve Saville in March 1972.

Promise Me You'll Listen

Promise me you'll listen, if I talk real slow;
Maybe I can show you, a few things you don't know.
Do you know what life's about? do you think it's just a dream?
Do you start to sing and shout when things ain't what they seem?

Maybe I can tell you, or maybe you've been told,
It's pointless chasing rainbows when there ain't no pot of gold;
Just let it all come naturally, there's no need to fight;
You can make it easily you're changing overnight.

        (Instrumental break)

If you're prepared to listen, then I'm prepared to speak;
Maybe I can help you, when your future's looking bleak.
Do you know what life's about? do you think it's just a dream?
Do you start to sing and shout when things ain't what they seem?

Oh! promise me you'll listen, if I talk real slow;
Maybe I can show you, a few things you don't know.
Just let it all come naturally, there's no need to fight;
You can make it easily we're changing overnight.

        (Instrumental break)
