No Love Left
Words & Music by Mick Armitage

 Audio sample
I wrote this song in July 1978. It is one of the few songs I completed in a relatively short period of time (a few weeks from start to finish), and I always regarded it as a bit 'thrown together'. I was not too keen on it after making the recording, but it has steadily grown on me over the years, and I now consider it one of my best songs!

No Love Left

There's no love left inside of me,
I gave it all to you;
And I gave you all my heart,
But you broke it in two:
I gave my love to you.
La la, la la la la la la la,
La la, la la la la la la --.

All that's left inside of me,
Are tears and hatred too:
All the pain you brought to me,
After all I gave to you:
I gave my heart to you.
La la, la la la la la la la,
La la, la la la la la la --.

Oh, I thought you was a sincere girl,
Genuine, thoughtful and kind,
But now it seems that I was wrong,
How could I have been so blind?
I thought that you were kind.
Oh la la, la la la la la la la,
La la, can't get you off my mind.

(Instrumental break - same as verse)

CHORUS:
Maybe it's just yesterday I'm thinking of;
Oh I was just a fool, to give away my love.

        ****

I really gave you all my love,
Which broke my golden rule:
I thought you would not let me down,
But I was just a fool;
I broke my golden rule.
Oh la la, la la la la la la la,
La la, I broke my golden rule.

The next time that I give my heart,
I'll know what to do:
I'll give it to some other girl,
But I won't forget you:
I gave my love to you.
Oh la la, la la la la la la la,
La la, I gave my love to you,
La la, la la la la la la --.
