Living In A Dream
Words & Music by Mick Armitage and Jane Thickett

 Audio sample
Jointly written with Jane Thickett in February 1974: this was the first song we wrote together. Of all the songs I have written, or played a part in writing, I am tempted to rate this the best of the lot! Maybe I'm not supposed to pass favourable comment on my own music, but I am going to anyway - I think the harmony sung chorus, when blasting out in full stereo, sounds absolutely brilliant! (sadly, the limited sound quality of the 'wave' sample below doesn't do it justice). It was a fantastic experience singing it with Jane too. If this song had been written and recorded by some other artist - I would definately have the record - and I don't say that about many of my songs!

Living In A Dream

All the leaves were green,
But since my baby's been away,
I'm walking in a dream,
And all the leaves have blown away.
Where do I go from here?
How can I hide my tears?
I can't go through the years,
Living in a dream when you're not there.

CHORUS:
Shine for me once more:
The way you did before,
When you were mine.

      ****

Since you said goodbye;
Memories from yesterday,
Make me wanna cry,
'Cos' all my dreams have gone astray.
Where do I go from here?
How can I hide my tears?
I can't go through the years,
Living in a dream when you're not there.

CHORUS:
Shine for me once more:
The way you did before,
When you were mine.

      ****

All the leaves were green,
But since my baby's been away,
I'm walking in a dream,
And all the leaves have blown away.
Where do I go from here?
How can I hide my tears?
I can't go through the years,
Living in a dream when you're not there;
Living in a dream when you're not there.
