Concrete World
Words & Music by Mick Armitage and Steve Saville

 Audio sample
Written in October 1971, this was one of my first joint compositions with Steve Saville. We both have always regarded it one of our best songs; I always felt that it had a lovely, magical, flowing rhythm. A few years ago, my young cousin and his friend, who, at that time, were heavily into music, and had been so inspired by this song, made a multi-tracked recording of it themselves - a modern day, very different rendition to my own - very good it was too. It was really nice to hear one of my songs recorded by someone else.

Concrete World

    (Instrumental intro)

I don't wanna live in no concrete world,
Take me to the stars far above.
I don't wanna hurt anybody,
All I wanna do is love.

CHORUS:
So listen to me please,
I'm down upon my knees,
Can't you hear a single word I say - - - ?

      ****

    (Instrumental break)

      ****

I don't wanna fight in no battles,
A hero I'm not cut out to be.
Take me to a place where the grass grows green,
Somewhere, where I can live in peace.

CHORUS:
So listen to me please,
I'm down upon my knees,
Can't you hear a single word I say - - - ?

      ****

    (Instrumental break)

      (End)
