Thanks Clifford for all the memories that come back to me when I hear your music. SUPERB! There is no better than you.
I heard "Home Thoughts From Abroad" on the radio the other day and was so moved I tried to get the album. Tried HMV and Virgin to discover it was no longer available. Can anyone help. Would love to get a selection pressed on CD or Mini Disc.
Well, it is like finding a precious personal belonging after so many years. My wife and I met in England in 1978 and we both loved Clifford music. Hard to find it while in England, impossible now that we live in Italy since 1983. I hope to get the works on CD before xmas, and btw merry xmas to you all. ennio
How long I have admired Clifford T Ward. His "Homethoughts" album have remained in my mind and heart ever since buying it in Virgin Records, Newhall Street, B'ham in the early 70's.. Being so far away from home these past 15 years you know how sentimental the words have become... have tried to repurchase the album here in SA but no-one seems to have heard of Clifford. So glad to have made the contact.. Real sorry to have heard of Cliff's illness, it has kinda hit me between the eyeballs. Strength to you Clifford.. seems so trite.. but I mean it
Congratulations on the web site. I'll never understand why such a lyrical genius has not received greater recognition and it is such a sad shame that he and his family face difficulties after all the pleasure he has given to us all over the years. He is a major singer/songwriter and only recognised by such a seemingly small sector of the record industry. I never thought I would be grateful to Terry Wogan (OK I'll admit that I like BBC Radio 2!), but recently his playing of "Homethoughts" and "Gaye" reminded me to at last seek out some recordings after long admiration of these and other songs over the years. I was soon reafirmed as a fan. The CD album "Gaye and Other Stories" has now been a constant occupant of disc 1 in the player (So that my wife knows where it is and she can play it as well) It was such a huge shock to read the sleeve notes and discover the reason for having missed new releases from him for so long. Love and strength to you Clifford and your family.
Please, I want the Gaye lyrics. Somebody help me. Sergio
You've got it, Sergio! They're now on the site (see 'Selected Songs' list on main page) . . . Mick.
Mick, Now this site is complete, finally the Gaye lyrics was put in. I'd really want know more Cliff songs, but in Brazil just played Gaye.
Delighted to find the site. I set about looking for a Clifford T. Ward site after hearing a snatch of 'the Best is yet to Come' on the radio the other day which put me in mind of Cliff's classics from the 70s. Never realised he had ten albums. Anybody know if there's some kind of 'Greatest hits' compilation available anywhere? I hope Clifford is doing well in his battle, and wonder if he is aware of the site?
i've rediscovered clifford t ward after 25yrs and i find your site very informative. i find his music even more moving and thought provoking than i did all those years ago, and i am currently trying to get all of his music on cd if it is available.
Having recently bought a new PC and modem, I went "surfing" for the first time and was absolutely GOBSMACKED to find the website. I've been a fan of Clifford T. since the early 80's and it's really heart warming to find so many like minded people out there. Information about Cliff and his music has never been easy to find, so a big thank you Mick, for such an informative and well planned site. Season's greetings to all, I hope to meet some of you "Sometime Next Year".
Great Site.... I have been in the radio business for over 25 years and remember playing those great songs of Cliffords on the air. I still listen to home thoughts ... even now it sounds great! Its also good to see that Clifford has lots of fans!
Hello Cliff, My frend long time no see sorry to hear about you ill health hope you are feeling better say hello to Pat and the children from me. And all the best for now and have happy new year. Pete (form Birmingham) Best whishies old frend :-)
I was a student in England in the 70s & 80s. I bought CTW's tapes for my SONY walkman which had just hit the market then. I was hooked and introduced CTW to my girlfriend. We are now happily married for over 11 years. Over the years, the tapes got worn out and I made a special trip a few years ago (before the age of internet)to London from Hong Kong to buy the CTW CDs. My job takes me around the world and currently we are living in New York City. No matter where we are, the CTW CDs are always with us. Thank you for your dedication and please keep this up.
I forgot to ask if anyone have guitar tab / chords of CTW's songs such as The Traveller, Home thoughts, etc. I would really appreciate if these can be emailed to me. Thanks.
Thanks Clifford for some fine music over the years, my own favourite is 'A Day To Myself' closely followed by 'Moonlight' I wish all your albums were available on CD. All the very best to you and your family. Looking forward to reading the book when it comes out.
The more I listen to Clifford T. Ward the more I love this man and his music. I can only describe my feelings as a love affair with his songs. All my love Your greatest fan
One of the centurys most underated song writer
I have been a fan for many, many years and love all of those wonderful songs. I have managed to find a CD (Title - Gaye and other stories) which I play often and am introducing his music to my grown-up children. I have been trying to find out info about Clifford T Ward for months and have at last been successful Would love to hear more updated info and would be thrilled to hear about any concerts to be performed. You have my e-mail address - please do call me ... Thanks Yvette
Really enjoyed your web page.. I have been a fan of Clifford T Ward for years, his music has so much meaning for me..
This is my first day accessing the net and CTW is my first search. I think the site is great. I have been a fan since the early 70`s. A singer songwriter who ranks amoung the best ever. My favorite albums are Mantlepieces and Both of us. Thanks again for this site.
I HAVE BEEN A BIG FAN OF CLIFFORD T WARD EVER SINCE MY DAD INTRODCED ME TO HIS MUSIC. HE TREASURES THE ALBUM HOME THOUGHTS WHICH HE BOUGHT IN 1972 AND FOR A LONG TIME I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HIS LOGIC BEHIND THAT. AS MORE OF HIS MUSIC IS BEING REISSUED IT HAS BECOME CLEAR TO ME HOW INCREDIBLY LITERATE CLIFFORD WAS. I AM CURRENTLY DOING A LEVEL IN ENGLISH LITRATURE AND I HAD TO PERFORM A SEMINAR ON SOMEONE WHO INFLUENCED ME POETICALLY. THERE WAS ONLY ONE PERSON I COULD POSSIBLY CHOOSE. I DID VERY WELL AND REACHED THE HIGHEST SCORE SO FAR WITH 78% FOR A PRESENTATION. I WISH TO FIND MORE LITRATURE ABOUT THE LIFE OF CLIFFORD. I'D LIKE TO THANK YOU TO CLIFFORD FOR BRINGING ME A LOT OF HAPPY MEMORIES AND GIVING ME AN INSIGHT ON HOW EFFECTIVE WORDS CAN BE. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED CLIFFORD T WARD IS THE ROBERT BROWNING OF THE 20TH CENTURY.
I love Clifford T. Ward Where would that leave me? Regards
